About this position

The Orchard Church is a Southern Baptist church located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis known for its family-friendly environment and affluent community. The church was planted in 2010 with a strong missions focus and a vision to reach 10,000 people for Jesus. In 2017, the church moved into its current building, and in recent years, the church has experienced strong growth, with 750–900 in weekly attendance. The church offers two modern worship services on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and 11:00am. The first service includes full kids programming and a student service, while the second service is designed as a family worship hour where families sit together. The Orchard has a healthy elder-led governance structure, strong staff culture, and a leadership team committed to discipleship and excellence.

The Orchard is now seeking a high-capacity Family Pastor to oversee all ministries from birth through college-age, including Kids, Students, and College Ministry. This new hire will bring fresh vision, structure, and pastoral leadership to a vital ministry area that represents 65%+ of the congregation. The right candidate for this role will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will have a roughly 70/30 focus, with the majority of time and leadership energy directed toward student ministry. The Family Pastor will directly lead and help teach in student environments while providing oversight to the Kids Director and preschool/elementary staff. The family ministry team currently includes both full-time and part-time staff, with two full-time student coordinators, an almost full time kids director, a part time preschool coordinator, and a full time elementary coordinator. The Family Pastor will be responsible for bringing alignment, strategy, and vision across this multi-role team.

Student Ministry

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and development of people and programming for students (6th–12th Grade) and their families.
  • Partner with parents to equip them as the primary disciple-makers in the home.
  • Lead engaging environments alongside the student staff on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings, and annual events such as DNOW and camps.
  • Supervise the Student Ministry staff and raise up future student ministry leaders.
  • Partner with staff and the Teams Coordinator to recruit, develop, and support volunteer leaders.
  • Champion safety protocols and ensure ECAP standards are met.

Kids Ministry

  • Supervise the Kids Director and provide leadership, oversight, and vision support for Orchard Kids Ministry.
  • Partner with Kids Ministry staff and the Teams Coordinator to strengthen and grow volunteer teams.
  • Support the implementation of safety procedures and ECAP compliance.

Leadership & Teaching

  • Serve as a key leader on the Executive Team.
  • Preach and teach in various settings, especially in Student Ministry and occasionally in Sunday services.
  • Be available to shepherd church members as needed.
  • Contribute to overall church leadership and organizational development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Meets the biblical standards for leadership found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, demonstrating spiritual maturity and integrity.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage people, systems, and ministry operations.
  • Passion for family ministry and discipleship, with a heart for equipping parents and developing next-generation leaders.
  • Theologically aligned with the SBC, reformed soteriology, and complementarianism.
  • Relational, humble, and team-oriented with a proven ability to build trust and unity among staff and volunteers.
  • Strong ability to preach and teach.
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree required; seminary preferred. Can supplement no degree with 10+ year of experience.
  • Experience
    • 5 - 10 years of full-time ministry experience, with strong leadership background in student ministry and familiarity with overseeing a broader family ministry context.
