Revision Church is a growing congregation with about 300 in attendance on a weekly basis. They are part of the Converge denomination and located in Windsor Heights, IA, a suburb of Des Moines, IA. Revision exists “to help people meet Jesus and follow him fully!” Over the last decade, Revision has been led by their founding pastor, Mike Howard. They are currently meeting in a public school for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. However, they have purchased a church building and plan to move in September to 2025. Revision has two identical modern worship services at 9:00 AM & 10:30 AM.
The current Youth Ministry is divided into Jr. (6-8) and Sr. High (9-12) and meets weekly on Wednesday nights. They average around 30 students in attendance, but have 67 students in their database.
Revision is seeking a new full-time Youth Pastor. The Youth Pastor at Revision Church brings leadership, vision, and direction to the youth ministry, and creates a culture of passionate engagement for students, volunteers, and parents. One of Revision’s core values is Loved People Do Life With People. The Youth Pastor creates spaces and environments where students can connect deeply with God, with one another, and with adult leaders who care.
Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the Youth Pastor for Revision Church, including:
- Planning and executing midweek Revive large group gatherings.
- Planning and executing midweek Revive small groups.
- Relevant, Biblical, and engaging teaching for students.
- Planning and executing multiple annual youth events, including but not limited to, retreats and mission trips.
- Recruitment, training, and retention of a committed volunteer team.
- Shepherding students in a pastoral way that helps them connect relationally and grow spiritually.
- Shepherding volunteers in a pastoral way that helps them maximize their gifts and grow spiritually.
- Regularly communicating with parents/guardians of students in Revive and working to equip them to help their students grow spiritually.
- Create and manage an annual budget.
Serve as a member of the Pastoral Leadership Team, including:
- Attending weekly staff meetings and helping to shape the mission, direction, and methodology of Revision.
- Providing a pastoral presence at Sunday, and other, worship gatherings of Revision.
- Communicating from stage including, but not limited to, announcements, preaching, and baptisms.
- If desired at some point, receiving coaching, funding, people, and resourcing to go and plant a brand new church.
- Participate in an annual staff planning retreat.
- Other duties as requested by the Lead Pastor.
