JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

New Covenant Christian Church is a non-denominational church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They are led by Pastor Josh Carmody. Pastor Josh grew up at New Covenant and has been part of the New Covenant family since 1985 and on staff since the year 2000. Their mission is to be a diverse community transformed by the love of Jesus. Their desire is to help people establish a relationship with Christ and help them move to be disciples of Jesus. New Covenant is community minded and believes that church isn’t over when the service ends. They have about 250 people worshipping during their two weekend services (8:30am and 10:30am) and about another 35 households that join online each week.

 

New Covenant has been writing and releasing original worship songs over the last few years and would like to continue doing that as an expression of who they are. They are in need of a Worship leader who will embrace and advance this mission.

The church is seeking the right candidate to lead as the new Worship Pastor. The right candidate will have the ability to effectively provide direction, leadership, and implementation of the Worship Ministry through excellent Sunday services, vision casting, and leadership development.  The Worship Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor to fulfill their role.  Below are the Responsibilities and Qualifications Froot Group and the church have identified for this role.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead worship for our weekend services.
  • Lead worship for Celebrate Recovery meetings, and youth ministry events as requested.
  • Conduct weekly worship rehearsals.
  • Audition and Recruit new members for the worship teams.
  • Learn new songs and teach these songs to the worship teams. 
  • Help provide musical and spiritual development for worship team members.
  • Work with pastors and other team members in creative development for worship services and special focuses or events.
  • Be willing to be involved in community outreaches including opportunities for the worship teams to take part in various community events.
  • Coordinate the weekend services by planning the order of service. 
  • Be familiar with the operation of the sanctuary A/V equipment or have a general working knowledge and a desire to learn.
  • Recruit, train and develop volunteer personnel to operate sound, screens, lights, and cameras.
  • Write, and work with the team to write, songs that are an expression of who we are as a church.
  • Record original songs. 
  • Help with stage designs/setup. 
  • Develop and oversee the budget for the worship ministry under the supervision of the advisory board.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Formal education not required.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of weekly experience in leading/developing congregational worship and teams in a multigenerational setting.
  • The ideal candidate will be theologically compatible, knowledgeable, and sound.
  • The ideal candidate will be skilled on multiple instruments, with an emphasis on guitar.
  • The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable on technical elements of production and worship software (Planning Center, Main Stage, ProPresenter 7, lighting, sound, etc)
  • The ideal candidate will be encouraged to grow as a songwriter and introduce original material to the church.
