Philosophy of Worship
What is your philosophy of worship?

My philosophy of worship stems from John 4:24. We are called to worship in Spirit and Truth. I believe this to mean worshipers are people who both know God and pursue Christ, becoming more like Him by the power of the Holy Spirit with a body of believers. This shapes my ministry because it means to worship, we must also live a life of discipleship. This means developing volunteer leaders as instructed in Ephesians 4:12 and placing an emphasis in character off the platform so we lead from a position of having something to give rather than something to prove. When planning a worship service, I think it is important to hold the tensions in balance over the scope of one’s ministry. This means singing both new and old music, lyrics which are both subjective and objective, and both acknowledging those who don’t know Christ but also allowing space to form mature believers.

Ideal Relationship with Lead Pastor
How would you describe the ideal relationship between senior/lead pastor and worship leader?

I would consider a healthy relationship between a lead pastor and worship leader to be defined by mutual communication and service. Two individuals who model Romans 12 by dying to self and empowering the other to serve God’s people, encouraging the other in their faith. And when in disagreement, my role is to live Hebrews 13:17.
