About this position

First Christian Church is a multi-generational church in Brazil, IN, averaging 450 in weekly attendance. Brazil is 35 minutes from Terre Haute, IN and less than an hour from Indianapolis, IN. The church is led by Senior Minister, Dan Stribling. Dan served as the Worship Minister for 6 years before assuming the role of Senior Minister in February 2026. 

The congregation has a desire to reach younger families, which is evidenced by their daycare and school (PK-8th Grade). The church currently offers two distinct worship environments: a traditional service (8:30 AM) and a contemporary service (11:00 AM), with Sunday School at capacity in between.

There is strong relational health among staff and volunteers, with a genuine sense of care, loyalty, and community. The church has a solid biblical foundation and a desire to move forward, especially in areas of worship engagement, volunteer development, and community outreach.

The church is seeking the right candidate to lead as the new Worship Pastor. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision.  The Worship Minister will work closely with the Senior Pastor to fulfill their role.  Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the worship ministry across both contemporary and traditional services, ensuring a unified and Christ-centered worship experience.
  • Plan and lead engaging, theologically sound, and participatory worship services in alignment with the Senior Minister’s vision, including Sunday mornings and special services (Easter, Christmas, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary worship leader each week, guiding the congregation with authenticity, energy, and spiritual intentionality.
  • Recruit, develop, and disciple volunteers across worship, tech, creative arts, and communion teams.
  • Plan, organize, and direct weekly rehearsals, creating an environment that is both efficient and developmental for team members.
  • Oversee and strengthen all worship-related teams, including Worship, Production/AVL, Creative Arts, Set Design, and Communion.
  • Cultivate a healthy team culture through relational investment, encouragement, and ongoing coaching.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Minister and staff to ensure services are cohesive, biblically grounded, and aligned with the overall mission of the church.
  • Provide creative direction for services, including stage design, service flow, and visual elements that enhance engagement without distracting from worship.
  • Support and assist in the creation of media content, including video production for services, announcements, and church communication.
  • Develop and maintain systems for scheduling, communication, and service planning (Planning Center or equivalent).
  • Manage the worship ministry budget, including planning, stewardship, and future resource allocation.
  • Provide regular communication and reporting to the Senior Minister and Elders regarding ministry health, progress, and needs.
  • Participate in the overall life of the church through pastoral care, relationship building, and staff collaboration.
  • Assist with church-wide events and ministry needs, including weddings, funerals, and special gatherings.
  • Pursue ongoing growth through conferences, training, and continued development.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A clear and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by spiritual maturity, integrity, and a heart for people.
  • Alignment with the theology and practices of First Christian Church, including baptism by immersion and complementarian leadership structure.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect across multiple generations and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and disciple volunteers both spiritually and musically.
  • Effective communicator from the platform, able to lead worship moments with clarity and authenticity.
  • Proficient musician with vocal competency and the ability to lead from an instrument (guitar or piano preferred).
  • Working knowledge of music theory and the ability to lead and develop a band.
  • Familiarity with modern worship tools and environments, including tracks (Ableton/Loop Community), Planning Center, and presentation software (EasyWorship or ProPresenter).
  • Basic understanding of AVL systems (audio, video, lighting), with the ability to lead and support volunteer teams in these areas.
  • Organizational and administrative competency, including planning, scheduling, and consistent communication.
  • Creative awareness with the ability to enhance worship environments through service flow, visuals, and media.
  • Preferred: Experience with video editing and media production tools.
  • Preferred: Previous experience leading worship in a weekly church setting (full-time, part-time, or high-level volunteer).
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
