Philosophy of Worship
What is your philosophy of worship?

The vision of the worship team I am currently a part of is as follows: We exist to raise up, empower and equip artists in the church to design, create and facilitate authentic gathering space for the church. If we do this well and with the Spirits help, we believe we will walk in the work of raising up a community of worshippers who will be excited to live on mission in the city they call home. We say each week to our team that we are here to create something beautiful for the people we love so that they can, in turn, encounter the God that we love. We are called, as artists in the church to be true to both abiding in Christ and making great art for glory of God. This is not so much my philosophy of “worship” as I believe worship is a very different thing than corporate worship. However, this would be a good sum up of my philosophy of “worship arts” or the role of art and artists in the church.

Ideal Relationship with Lead Pastor
How would you describe the ideal relationship between senior/lead pastor and worship leader?

A deep trusting friendship with both highs and lows and the ability to be absolutely honest with one another and still maintain the depth of relationship. The work we do together is collaborative, creative, fun and meaningful for both of us. We enjoy serving the body of Christ by creating a space for God’s word to become real and God’s presence to be experienced. We are humbled by the role we play in the gathering of God’s people. We are blessed to serve on a team of others artists, that bring ideas to the table that we love but could not have thought of on our own.
